Balboa Trail

Just a short 3-minute drive from The Reunion, the Balboa Trail invites you to explore 2.1 miles of scenic, mostly level paths — perfect for a leisurely walk or invigorating hike. Starting at Balboa Beach, the trail offers two interconnected loops that meander along the lake’s spillway and beneath a lush canopy of hardwoods and evergreens.

One of the trail’s standout spots is the bridge below the spillway, where you can pause to take in a stunning view of Lake Balboa. Convenient parking is available at Balboa Beach (476 Ponce de Leon Drive) and at the nearby commercial center (410 Ponce de Leon Drive).

Cedar Creek Trail

Discover the natural charm of Cedar Creek Trail, just 11 minutes from The Reunion — a 3.1-mile one-way path winding through lush woodlands, perfect for a leisurely walk or gentle hike. The trail features three interconnected loops with a soft, mostly level surface, and a slight incline along the Mourning Dove Path for a bit of added challenge.

Cedar Creek Trail is a favorite for wildlife enthusiasts and birdwatchers, offering seasonal views of the creek and plenty of opportunities to spot local fauna along the way. The loops include:

  • Blue Bird Path: 0.7 miles
  • Kingfisher Path: 0.6 miles
  • Cardinal Path: 0.6 miles

Parking is available at Lot A (200 Minorca Road) and at Lot B, located at the north end of the trail at Minorca Road and Coronado Drive, across from Coronado Baptist Church.

Coronado Fitness Trail

Just 16 minutes from The Reunion, the Coronado Fitness Trail offers a 1-mile one-way path that blends exercise with scenic beauty. Designed with multiple surfaces and fitness stations along the way, it’s perfect for a full-body workout while enjoying the outdoors.

The trail stretches from the fitness center parking lot at 160 Ponderosa Lane to the RV Park, finishing at the picturesque Lake Coronado. Along the route, you’ll be treated to views of the Lake Pineda spillway creek and the sparkling lake, making every step refreshing and invigorating.

Parking is conveniently available at the fitness center. Whether you’re looking for an active workout or a leisurely stroll surrounded by nature, Coronado Fitness Trail delivers a rewarding outdoor experience.

DeSoto Multipurpose Trail

Just 18 minutes from The Reunion, the historic DeSoto Multipurpose Trail is the first and oldest trail in Hot Springs Village, offering 3.4 miles of scenic paths and connections. More than a typical trail, it serves as a network linking neighborhoods to the DeSoto Golf Course & Club, Pickleball Courts, and the DeSoto Recreation Area — making it ideal for walking, cycling, or enjoying an outdoor adventure.

Main parking is available at the trailhead north of the fire station, located at 110 Calella Road, with limited additional parking at various intersections along the route.

Hernando Trail

Discover the Hernando Trail – just eight minutes from The Reunion – the longest trail in Hot Springs Village at 8.6 miles one way! Running parallel to DeSoto Boulevard, this trail features a packed gravel surface with a mix of level walks and challenging hills, making it perfect for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. Be prepared for some steep sections on either side of Minorca Road, adding to the adventure!

Parking is available at the Cortez Pavilion (181 Carmona Road), POA Administration Building (895 DeSoto Boulevard), Ponce de Leon Center (1101 DeSoto Boulevard), and other convenient spots along DeSoto Boulevard. Mile markers help you keep track of your progress as you enjoy this scenic route.

Just 18 minutes from The Reunion, the Sonora-Calella Trail offers a scenic route perfect for walking, cycling, or a leisurely outdoor stroll. This multi-use trail winds through lush landscapes and peaceful neighborhoods, providing a serene escape while connecting key areas of Hot Springs Village.

The trail begins at 209 DeSoto Boulevard and features a mostly level surface that’s accessible for a variety of activities, from casual walks to bike rides. Along the way, enjoy views of mature trees, landscaped green spaces, and the natural beauty that makes this trail a favorite for locals and visitors alike.

Parking is available at the trailhead at 209 DeSoto Boulevard. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing walk, an active ride, or a scenic route to explore the community, the Sonora-Calella Trail offers a welcoming outdoor experience.

Waypoint Trail

Just 17 minutes from The Reunion, the Waypoint Trail offers a 0.7-mile one-way route perfect for a leisurely walk or bike ride. This scenic path begins at the Waypoint in the DeSoto Marina parking area (120 Marina Road) and follows the shoreline, providing lovely views of Lake DeSoto as it passes Los Lagos and continues along Calella Road.

Parking is conveniently available at the DeSoto Marina lot. Whether you’re seeking a peaceful stroll or a quick outdoor getaway, Waypoint Trail offers a refreshing escape right in the heart of Hot Springs Village.

Walking & Cycling Trails

DeSoto Nature Trail

Just 18 minutes from The Reunion, the DeSoto Nature Trail offers a peaceful 1.2-mile one-way route perfect for walking or biking. The trail features two loops — one mostly level and one with a gentle uphill leading to a charming bench overlook — inviting you to pause and take in the scenery.

Wander through shaded woods and lush landscapes while spotting local wildlife, including deer, turtles, and a variety of songbirds. Birdwatchers will especially enjoy the seasonal activity along the trail, with opportunities to see herons, kingfishers, and other native species. DeSoto Spillway

Just 18 minutes from The Reunion, the DeSoto Spillway Trail offers a peaceful 0.8-mile path that follows the spillway waters on the south side from DeSoto Park Lane to the Lake DeSoto Spillway. Two loops on well-marked, wide gravel paths are offered to experience the scenic views and the tall mixed pine and hardwood forest. The trail includes some rocky and uneven terrain and offers beautiful water views of Lake DeSoto. 

Parking is available at DeSoto Park, located at 201 DeSoto Park Lane. The trail is both kid and pet friendly, making it ideal for a family outing.

John & Mildred Cooper Preserve

Just 5 minutes from The Reunion, the John & Mildred Cooper Preserve — managed by the Nature Conservancy — is a peaceful retreat accessed via a gravel road off Rocoso Drive. Marked by clear entrance signage, it invites visitors to step into a world of natural beauty and tranquility.

The preserve features three scenic trails — Saline River, Piney Woods, and Cooper — all natural-surfaced paths ideal for hiking, walking, or a leisurely outdoor exploration. Along the trails, enjoy quiet woods, river views, and the chance to spot local wildlife, making it a perfect escape for nature enthusiasts.

Magellan Beaver Dam

Just seven minutes from The Reunion, the Magellan Beaver Dam Trail is a 0.6-mile wetland path located below the Balboa Dam off Cloaca Road. This level, natural-surface trail is a favorite for birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts, offering a serene escape into nature.
